From Plastic Pollution to Natural Solution

According to the OECD, 91% of the world’s plastic waste is dumped in the environment. This method of waste management leaves plastics to degrade over hundreds of years, forming microplastics. Recycling is not a viable solution to the plastic crisis, due to the costly process and the many different types of polymers to be processed. With the exponential growth of plastic production, the negative effects of plastic pollution on the environment and the human body are more significant than ever.
